How Stock Exchanges Can Advance Gender Equality

This report examines the state of gender equality in the private sector, with a focused analysis of stock exchange practice in 13 markets: Australia, Brazil, Egypt, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, South Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States of America. The findings presented here are based on:

 ■ interviews with each of the 15 exchanges profiled;

 ■ a global peer review in January 2016 where the draft report was reviewed by global experts on both gender equality and stock exchanges. The review found that many exchanges have already taken action to address gender equality, including the examples set out in this report. Nevertheless, substantial room for progress exists.
