Commission Staff Working Document: Mid-term Review of the Strategy for Equality between Women and Men (2010-2015)
The Strategy represents the work programme of the Commission on gender equality. In line with the European Pact for Gender Equality, it reaffirms the dual approach of specific actions and gender mainstreaming in five priority areas and one area addressing cross-cutting issues.
The five priority areas of the Strategy are:
•equal economic independence for women and men;
•equal pay for work of equal value;
•equality in decision-making;
•dignity, integrity and ending gender violence;
•promoting gender equality beyond the EU.
Every year, the Commission provides a detailed assessment of the progress being made with regard to equality between women and men in Europe across these priority areas. The annual reports take stock of the main policy developments and analyse progress achieved using a robust set of indicators.This mid-term review complements the annual reports by providing information about the contribution of each Commission service and the European External Action Service (EEAS).
