Bio

“You can have unbelievable intelligence, you can have connections, you can have opportunities fall out of the sky. But in the end, hard work is the true, enduring characteristic of successful people.”

My name is Lembie Obonye Mmereki. I am 35 years old and live and work in Gaborone, Botswana. My mother was a teacher and taught in schools accross the country for over 30 years. And as much as I have worked in fields as far removed from teaching as possible, I believe I am the quintesential 'teacher's daughter'. This combined with the educational opportunities that I have been afforded by my government and employers, have led me to believe in the power of knowledge. I believe continued efforts into the education, training and upskilling of women will be the driving force in eradicating poverty in my country. And to this I goal I am fully committed. Hence I seek platforms such as Empower women to create avenuesto reach as many women as possible.
