Luz Maria Utrera is the President and the Founder of the Luz Maria Foundation an organization dedicated to helping women who experienced domestic violence and women in need in the US, Argentina and around the world. She is also a founder and President of Fundación Luz María in her hometown of Santiago del Estero, Argentina. Her experience includes support and advocacy for survivors of domestic violence. Fundación Luz Maria just received Consultative Status with United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and DPI association. She is a part of The World We Want, Policy Strategy Group at the United Nations and United Nations Inter-Agency Network on Youth .
Luz Maria has a license as attorney of law in Argentina. She took a specialized course in International Law of Human Rights. She recently attended a workshop at Yale University and a Domestic Violence and the Law seminar at Columbia University Law School as well training courses at the Foundation Center.
