Bio

Maria Tirmizi is Editorial Web Production Consultant for the WE EMPOWER Programme, Economic Empowerment Section at UN Women. Her special interest lies in corporate responsibility towards diversity and inclusion, particularly women’s empowerment and gender equality, as well as the development of new skills for vulnerable employees in the changing world of work. She has an MS in Journalism from Columbia University and also an MA in South Asia Studies and International Relations from Columbia University. She grew up in Pakistan and is fluent in Urdu and English.
