Gender equality is more than a goal in itself. It is a precondition for meeting the challenge of reducing poverty, promoting sustainable development, and building good governance. -Kofi Annan
I am an 18-year-old advocate for gender equality & the SDGs who has worked in the U.S. and the Middle East for the past 3 years. I've supported the advancement of women and girls on Capitol Hill, at the headquarters of the UN, and at the White House. In Qatar, I started the country's first branch of Girl Up, a UNF campaign for global female empowerment. I've lobbied members of Congress for bills that enhance the welfare of adolescent girls and refugees, I've represented the U.S. twice at the Youth Assembly at the UN, and I've worked with wonderful organizations like UNDP, UNICEF, UNFPA, the Malala Fund, Under One Sky, Girl Effect, RESULTS, Global Citizen, and so on. As a prospective Champion, I want to promote youth support by creating focus groups, I would like to visit with rural communities here in Costa Rica to assess the role of women and implement EW's projects, and I want to spearhead social media campaigns to reach out to government leaders and push for WEE policy.
