On 16 September 2020, the WE EMPOWER - G7 Programme hosted the "Leveraging Women’s Networks to Advance Gender Equality" event to o feature Women's Empowerment Principles(WEPs) framework and showcase how taking the WEPs Journey help companies advance gender equality and women’s empowerment.

 

 

THE EVENT

The Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) are a set of seven principles offering guidance to business on how to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment in the workplace, marketplace and community.

The WEPs Journey represents five stages of a company’s engagement with the WEPs: Sign, Action, Capture, Engage, Report. UN Women provides technical guidance that puts the WEPs signatory onto an effective WEPs journey of implementation, driven by accountability and transparency. Several tools and resources are available to kick start companies’ journeys and build their capacities at different stages of their journey.

This webinar is organized by WE EMPOWER-G7 Programme to feature WEPs framework and showcase how taking the WEPs Journey help companies advance gender equality and women’s empowerment.

Programme Manager for the Foreign Policy Instrument of the European Union (EU) at the EU Mission in Canada, currently managing  WE EMPOWER - G7, a partnership action between the EU, UN WOMEN and ILO to promote Women Economic Empowerment at Work through Responsible Business Conduct.

Served to the EU External Action Service for more than 14 years promoting EU Cooperation with third countries, during this period has been based in several countries such Botswana, The Gambia, Belgium, Romania, Cuba and Canada.

Dr. Amany Asfour, International President, International Federation for Business and Professional Women (BPW)
Dr. Amany Asfour is the International President of the International Federation for Business and Professional Women. She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Cairo University and received her Master Degree & M.D. degree in Pediatrics at the National Research Center of Egypt. She joined the private sector when she was a student at the Faculty of Medicine. She realized the importance of creating an organization targeting women's economic empowerment, promoting young women's entrepreneurship, creating new jobs and decent work for women, empowering women through trade and access to market, promoting young generations of women entrepreneurs and giving guidance to women business owners of small and medium enterprises, increasing the role of women in the value chain and value addition. She believes that financial independence for women gives them the power of choice and voice. She directed her activities towards women's economic empowerment, capacity building, and training. Dr. Asfour received many awards from Egypt, Africa, the Arab world and from all over the world.

Ms. Silvia Fiorentini, Talent Management, Holistic Leadership and Change Management Team, Group ENEL
Silvia Fiorentini has been with Enel since 2006, after working in an Italian bank and an airline. She is a positive, curious and proactive person. The lessons she has learned over the years is related to teamwork and achieving of common goals. After managing a team that dealt with negotiating master agreements in the energy utility of Enel group, she changed departments to work within talent management. Silvia now works in the Talent Management, Holistic Leadership and Change Management team in Enel Spa the holding of Enel group.

Ms. Silvia Martinucci, Legal Director for Latin America, Groupe PSA
Silvia Martinucci entered Groupe PSA 20 years ago. At the moment, she is responsible for the Legal Department in Latin America and since 2017 she actively participates in PSA’s women’s network to promote women participation in management positions. She is also part of the mentoring program for women managers and the diversity ambassador for the Legal Department worldwide.

Mr. Xavier Guisse, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, Groupe PSA
Xavier Guisse is in charge of the social responsibility of Groupe PSA and of its international social dialogue. In this role, he is responsible for the Group's equal opportunity and diversity policy.

“Promoting economic empowerment of women at work through responsible business conduct in G7 countries” (WE EMPOWER – G7) is a programme funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented by UN Women and the International Labour Organization (ILO). The WE EMPOWER Programme convene multistakeholder dialogues in the EU, Canada, Japan and the US to exchange knowledge, experiences, good practices and lessons learned in the context of the changing world of work
