In the context of our rapidly changing world of work and the pace of innovation, the WE EMPOWER—G7 Programme of UN Women, the European Union and the ILO will host a webinar to explore the policies, practices and concrete steps being taken to make innovation inclusive in the US and the European Union. The Institute for Women’s Policy Research (IWPR) based in Washington, DC will share a new publication, Women, Automation and the Future of Work, posit anticipated key workforce changes and propose considerations for employers as our world expands artificial intelligence, blockchain and other new technologies. The webinar will share measures being taken by the US and the European Union to attract, recruit and retain female talent and prepare women for long-term careers in STEM. The webinar will explore future trends and help employers anticipate decisions that need attention in order to invest financial and human resources most strategically in the 21st century workplace.

Ariane Hegewisch is Program Director for Employment and Earnings at the Institute for Women’s Policy Research, an independent research institute in Washington, DC. She is responsible for IWPR’s research on earnings, occupations, and workplace discrimination, directs IWPR’s work for the U.S. Department of Labor’s Gender Equity in Apprenticeship grant, and co-directs IWPR’s program on Women and the Future of Work. Recent publications include Women, Automation, and the Future of Work, and Pathways to Equity: Narrowing the Wage Gap by Improving Women’s Access to Good Middle-Skill Jobs. She was a member of the 2015-2016 Equal Employment Opportunities Commission (EEEOC) Select Taskforce on Workplace Harassment. Hegewisch is frequently cited in the media, including in the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal, Vanity Fair, The Atlantic, MarketWatch, CNN Money, CNBC, Bloomberg BNA, and other outlets around the country.
Prior to coming to the USA in 2001, she was a lecturer and senior research of European human resource management at Cranfield School of Management, one of the leading university business schools in the UK. She began her career in London as a policy advisor on sector strategies and women’s employment and training. After growing up in Germany, she received a BSc Economics from the London School of Economics, and an MPhil Development Studies from the University of Sussex, UK.
Sasha Bezuhanova, Founder and Chairperson, MOVE.BG & Governing Board Member, EIT – European Institute of Innovation and Technology and Board Chair of Bulgarian Center of Women in Technologies
Sasha Bezuhanova is a senior executive, angel investor and philanthropist with a 20-years executive business career in HP and a multi-dimensional track record of service to society. Her long list of business achievements and social development engagements throughout the years involve positioning Bulgaria as an ICT center of global significance, boosting the entrepreneurial culture and women empowerment in Bulgaria and at European level. In 2013 she left her business career and devoted herself to supporting social prosperity trough innovation, education and collaboration.
Sasha is the founder of MOVE.BG - non-partisan platform for collaboration in finding sustainable solutions for the state, economy and society via innovation, participation and co-creation and the initiator of EDIT.BG – open network initiative for digital innovation and The ChangeMakers – multidisciplinary community engagement initiative bridging digital, green and art innovators. Sasha is Chair of the Board of Bulgarian Center of Women in Technologies, Co-founder and board member of the Initiative for Social Empowerment and Honorary Board member of Junior Achievement Bulgaria where she served as Board Chair for fifteen years. She is also a mentor and angel investor in a number of technological startups.
Nicole Isaac, Senior Director, North America Policy, LinkedIn
Nicole Isaac is the Head of North America Policy at LinkedIn and manages strategic engagement with local, state, provincial and federal governments across North America. Nicole has been with LI for almost 4 years and previously served as Director of U.S. Public Policy where she managed day to day policy and government affairs portfolio, taking on primary responsibility for engaging with the Administration, Congress, and policy-oriented NGOs on issues ranging from privacy and security to workforce policy issues. Nicole joined LinkedIn as the head of Economic Graph Policy Partnerships and worked with local, state, federal and international electeds on leveraging strategic information for investments in the 21st century workforce and to provide critical labor insights. Nicole taught international business and geopolitics at Georgetown, and also founded a social impact accelerator, Code the Streets, to increase resources to inner city communities.
Nicole was previously a Special Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs Prior to serving as a legislative advisor to the President, Nicole was Deputy Legislative Director for the Office of the Vice President. Nicole completed her Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and also a Master of Arts degree in International Affairs from Columbia University, respectively, in 2004. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Brown University. She also completed a Master of Studies (LLM equivalent) in International Human Rights Law at Oxford University in the United Kingdom.
