Women and the Extractive Industry

UN Women is currently documenting Examples of Emerging Good Practices that promote women’s participation in the Extractive Industries. The good practices shared will be collated and shared to help guide governments, private sector, CSOs and other stakeholders in developing policy, programmes and legislation that will help in addressing challenges facing women affected by – and hoping to benefit from the extractives sector. This publication on emerging good practice shall be a valuable contribution to exploring solutions and taking them to scale and feeds into the efforts developed on engendering the extractive industries. UN Women is requesting your support as specialists, organizations, government agencies, media, private sector and experts in this area to collect good practices that promote women’s participation in the industry

    Women do participate in extractive industries , this is a good venture as a few women are experts in this however I tend to think a good number of women involved in this are at the bottom chain, either doing manual labor or ensuring the men involved are taken care of by providing food.
