The glass ceiling will go away when women help other women break through that ceiling.

What is the #BreakTheGlass campaign?
#BreakTheGlass is a digital storytelling campaign that focuses on inspiring women (and men) to break the glass ceiling. This term was coined a few decades ago as a metaphor to describe the invisible barriers that prevent women and minorities from climbing the corporate ladder, regardless of their qualifications and skills. However, breaking the glass ceiling extends beyond the corporate world. This campaign is inclusive of all fronts where women face cultural and social barriers that limit their full economic empowerment. It aims to highlight:
- Women who are redefining women’s strength by defying gender stereotypes and breaking barriers across disciplines, and women who are creating opportunities for women and contributing to make the world more equal.
- Men who are advocates for women’s economic empowerment and gender equality and extend their support to women - by sharing the load on unpaid care work, by having inclusive policies at the workplace, by promoting equality through community initiatives or by empowering women and girls.
- Girls and boys who are challenging gender roles and perceptions in order to bridge the gender inequality gap and inspiring more girls to become fully empowered.
